US launches self-defense strikes on Iran radar sites as Tehran claims it retaliated by attacking air base

The US launched self-defense strikes on Iranian radar strikes in response to “aggression” shown by the clerical regime – while Tehran says it retaliated by striking an air base used by the US amid talks to end the three-month-old war.

Strikes on Iranian radar and command sites located in the city of Goruk and Qeshm, an island located in the Strait of Hormuz, were carried out this weekend in response to “aggressive Iranian actions that included the shootdown of a U.S. MQ-1 drone that was operating over international waters,” Central Command said Sunday night.

“U.S. fighter aircraft swiftly responded by eliminating Iranian air defenses, a ground control station, and two one-way attack drones that posed clear threats to ships transiting regional waters.

“No American service members were harmed. CENTCOM will continue to protect U.S. assets and interests in response to unwarranted Iranian aggression during the ongoing ceasefire.”

Qeshm Island, which is dubbed Tehran’s “unsinkable aircraft carrier” by western military analysts, is surrounded by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy and is home to an underground “missile city.”

Meanwhile, Iran claims to have targeted an airbase used by the US, without naming it.

Air defences in Kuwait, where a major US base is located, were “confronting hostile missile and drone attacks” on Monday, the country’s army said on social media.

Iran carried out the attack in response to a strike on a communications tower in Sirik County, located in the country’s Hormozgan province, according to the Tasnim News Agency.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force has since warned that if US “aggression” continues, the response will be “entirely different.”

Brigadier General Majid Ebn al-Reza, the regime’s caretaker defense minister, warned the US Sunday “Our finger remains on the trigger” and “new surprises are on the way,” without divulging further.

Talks over a peace deal are ongoing – but Secretary of War Pete Hegseth didn’t rule out attacks on the regime restarting if there’s no deal.

“Our ability to recommence if necessary…we are more than capable,” Hegseth said in Singapore over the weekend.

“Our stockpiles are more than ​suited for that, both there and around the globe, ​so we’re in a very good place.”

President Trump has once again lashed out at critics who are urging him to strike a deal just to end the conflict.

“Iran really wants to make a deal, and it will be a good one for the U.S.A. and those that are with us,” Trump wrote on Truth Social before unleashing a blistering attack on his opponents.

“But don’t the Dumocrats, and variously seemingly unpatriotic Republicans, understand that it is MUCH tougher for me to properly do my job and negotiate when political hacks keep negatively ‘chirping’ at levels never seen before, over and over again, that I should move faster, or move slower, or go to war, or not go to war, or whatever.

“Just sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end. It always does.”
