Reports of outages spiked on Downdetector at that time, falling briefly before a second peak at 5.40 pm, when more than 1,300 users affected.

More than seven in 10 users reported an outage in mobile phone services, and 23 per cent reported mobile Internet issues.

The disruption was first reported at 2.55pm with about eight reports, up from a baseline of four.

“We are aware that some customers experienced momentary intermittent mobile connectivity,” said Singtel in a response to a Business Times query. “Customers are advised to power their devices off and on to resume connectivity. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

Singtel previously suffered an unprecedented islandwide disruption on Oct 8, 2024. It resulted in users unable to contact Singapore Civil Defence Force, police and hospital hotlines. That disruption lasted more than three hours.
