Red Sox to Place Star on Injured List With Possible Season-Ending Injury

The Boston Red Sox will be without one of their star players for the rest of the regular season and possibly the postseason as well.

Outfielder Roman Anthony’s oblique injury will force him to go on the 15-day injured list, manager Alex Cora said on his weekly radio interview with WEEI on Wednesday.

Although they do not have a specific timetable for Anthony to return, Cora said it’s generally a 4-to-6 week injury — a long enough duration to end Anthony’s regular season.

If the injury lingers on the long side, Anthony could be out for the postseason, as well.
