EXCLUSIVE: JB Smoove has returned to UTA as a client in all areas after a two-year stint at CAA. The actor, comedian, producer and writer had been at UTA for almost nine years before departing in fall 2023.

Best known for his role as Leon Black in HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, Smoove won an Outstanding Actor In A Short Form Comedy Or Drama Series Emmy in 2021 for Mapleworth Murders.

His additional series credits include Hulu’s History of the World, Part II, Netflix’s Blockbuster, TBS’ The Last O.G. alongside Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish; along with BET+’s Real Husbands of Hollywood. His voiceover work includes Hulu’s live-action/animated show Woke; Netflix’s Good Times: Black Again, Prime Video’s Fairfax; and HBO Max’s Harley Quinn.

Smoove began his career in 1999 with a recurring role on MTV’s The Lyricist Lounge Show and had featured guest spots on The Chris Rock Show and Premium Blend. In 2003, he joined the writing staff of NBC’s Saturday Night Live, sharing in a WGA Award for Best Comedy/Variety Series in 2017 for his fourth season on the show.

He starred alongside Tom Holland in the 2019 Spider-Man: Far From Home and reprised his role as Mr. Dell in the follow-up, Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Smoove’s production company, Alternate Side Productions, is behind One Course with JB Smoove, which was nominated for a New York Area Emmy Award. He also founded The First Darrin, a creative agency partnered with UEG that collaborates with brands to develop campaigns, shorts, and other advertising-style content from a comedic creative perspective. The agency recently completed its first project with Lexus.

He continues to be represented by Authentic Talent and Literary Management and Roger Pilakas, ESQ.
