Will Smith makes surprise cameo in ‘Bel-Air’ finale on Peacock: “We’re going to be alright”

Bel-Air gave young Will a proper sendoff in its grand finale.

The series finale saw Will (Jabari Banks) preparing to leave Bel-Air, his home of four years, to begin attending the University of Pennsylvania. But Will was joined by a surprise guest during his final moments in Bel-Air: The Fresh Prince himself, Will Smith.

In the scene, Smith gives some wise words to Will as he prepares to leave for college. “Stepping into the future’s kind of scary huh?” he asks him.

Will reminds him that making mistakes is a part of life as he prepares to return to Philly. “Don’t worry about having all of the answers. Nobody does. Not even the people who pretend like they do,” he says. “Trust me, you’re going to mess some things up, do some dumb s—, but you’re human. You’ll learn. You’ll grow. Just live and laugh and cry. Eat a cheesesteak — just not every day, because cholesterol is real. Life goes by fast, man. Try to enjoy the ride.”

They concluded their conversation with a meaningful fist bump as Smith tells him, “I’ll let you in on a little secret: We’re going to be alright.”

Banks called the reunion “a beautiful bow on the series” in a statement celebrating the finale.

“I truly believe we placed a beautiful bow on this series, weaving together past, present, and future in a way that feels both earned and heartfelt,” he said, per Today.com. “To have had the opportunity to work with Will was an absolute honor — pure joy, and another dream checked off the bucket list.”

“His cameo in Bel-Air feels like a truly poetic return, and I’m beyond excited for fans — not only of our show, Bel-Air, but of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air — to experience it and feel that full-circle moment for themselves,” he continued.

Bel-Air premiered in 2022 on Peacock, created by Morgan Stevenson Cooper. Cooper went viral on social media in 2019 after he shared a short film reimagining The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as a drama. Smith praised the project as a “brilliant” new iteration “for the next generation” and helped Cooper develop the project. Smith and Cooper both served as executive producers on the series.

Now, Bel-Air has come to an end after four seasons and 38 episodes.
