EXCLUSIVE: Ahead of the November 14 unveiling of his Netflix animated feature In Your Dreams, filmmaker Alex Woo has signed with Verve for representation.
In the film, which Woo wrote and directed, Stevie (Jolie Hoang-Rappaport) and her little brother Elliot (Elias Janssen) journey into the wildly absurd landscape of their own dreams to ask the Sandman to grant them the perfect family. The supporting cast includes Craig Robinson, Simu Liu, and Cristin Milioti, among others.
In addition to In Your Dreams, Woo is the creator and executive producer of the Emmy-winning series Go! Go! Cory Carson. Set to receive the New Vision Award at the World Animation Magazine Summit in November, he is also the Founder and CEO of Kuku Studios — the rare creative-executive hybrid who is as comfortable running a studio as he is a film set.
Prior to Kuku, Woo was a Director in Development at Lucasfilm and a Story Lead at Pixar, contributing to beloved films like Ratatouille, WALL•E, Finding Dory, and The Good Dinosaur. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, he began his career with the Student Academy Award-winning short Rex Steele: Nazi Smasher.
Verve has an expansive roster in the animation space, working with filmmakers like Jane Wu (Blue Eye Samurai) and Gonzalo Cordova (Women Wearing Shoulder Pads). Verve clients are also part of myriad major animated film universes, including the Spider-Verse universe (Peter Ramsey), the Dr. Seuss universe (Jill Culton with Oh, The Places You’ll Go!), Bad Guys (Yoni Brenner), and Shrek (Charlie Bean with forthcoming spin-off Donkey).
On the television side, 2025 saw their showrunner client Todd Harris at the helm of Eyes of Wakanda, with Zeb Wells serving as creator, writer, and exec producer of Marvel Zombies. Also a force on Netflix’s slate, Verve reps creators such as Elliott Kalan (Ghostbusters) and Fletcher Moules (Clash of Clans). Their clients Hannah McMechan and Danya Jimenez wrote this year’s global phenomenon KPop Demon Hunters, which was released by the same streamer.
