Valentino dead: tributes flood in for Italian fashion designer

Famed Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani has died, according to a post on Instagram from his foundation.

The post said the designer died at his house in Rome “surrounded by his loved ones” on Monday. He was 93.

Funeral plans have already been announced, with a lying in state scheduled Wednesday and Thursday and a funeral in Rome scheduled for Friday.

Tributes have already poured out on social media, including from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who wrote, “Valentino, undisputed master of style and elegance and eternal symbol of Italian high fashion. Today Italy loses a legend, but his legacy will continue to inspire generations. Thank you for everything.”
