AUSTIN (KXAN) — The tropics in the Atlantic Basin have been a complex forecast these last few days as Imelda formed Sunday morning.

Hurricane Humberto strengthened to a Category 5 Hurricane earlier this weekend and is forecast to continue to remain a Major Hurricane through Tuesday morning.

Imelda

Tropical Storm Imelda (as of 2:30 p.m. Sunday) had sustained winds at 40 mph, moving north at 7 mph.

As Imelda continues to move north in the next few days, steering from Hurricane Humberto will essentially “pull” Imelda offshore of the Southeast U.S. East Coast, limiting significant wind impacts.

An elevated flood risk remains for portions of Georgia and the Carolinas through Tuesday. Several inches of rain are possible on the immediate coastline.
