Scooter rider dies after being hit downtown by vehicle that left scene

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department said a person riding a scooter died following a Saturday night crash involving a vehicle.

According to police, the scooter rider was identified as 33-year-old Khaled Saadeddine.

APD said the crash occurred shortly after 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of East 11th Street and San Jacinto Boulevard, and when officers arrived, the vehicle involved was no longer at the scene.

According to police, Saadeddine was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following the crash. APD said he later died from his injuries.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 78th fatal crash of 2025, according to APD.
