Picturehouse has named Sara Frain as the new Managing Director of its distribution arm, Picturehouse Entertainment.

The company has said Frain will take on her new role immediately, while veteran Picturehouse chief Clare Binns transitions into a new part-time role as Creative Director. The company has said Binns will “continue to offer her experience and expertise in all areas of the group, and will be involved in film acquisitions alongside Head of Acquisitions James Brown and Acquisitions Manager Julia Trawinska.”

Lyn Goleby, the co-founder of Picturehouse Cinemas, who returned to the company earlier this year, will be “responsible for driving the exhibition side of the business in her role as Chair,” the company said in a statement.

Frain has been at Picturehouse for 15 years. In her role as Managing Director, Frain will lead Picturehouse Entertainment’s operations and slate.

“I am incredibly honoured to take on this new role at Picturehouse Entertainment,” Frain said in a statement. “Alongside my exceptional team, we will continue to push creative boundaries, deliver quality and innovative releases, and support emerging talent in the industry. My goal is to build on our strong foundation and further position Picturehouse as an aspirational and inspiring company within the UK film landscape.”

Binns added: “Sara has been an important part of the growth of both our cinema group and distribution arm. I know that through her leadership, distribution will grow from strength to strength and, while still being very much involved in acquisitions, I’m excited to step back as Sara takes the reins.”
