Owner tries to walk by coffee shop without getting pup cup—backfires

A dog’s determined standoff for a sweet treat has left viewers on TikTok in stitches.
The now-viral video, posted to TikTok by @wjl951 on November 11, shows the stubborn canine sitting resolutely on a roadside, gazing at his owner while remaining perfectly still on his leash. The golden retriever sparked a flurry of laughter online with his refusal to budge without his favorite indulgence—a pup cup. To date, his owner’s video capturing the moment has been viewed more than 138,000 times and liked by over 14,000 users, drawing a stream of amused reactions in the comments section.
“When your dog refuses to walk past a Costa without getting his puppaccino,” read an overlaid text on the video, as the dog locked eyes with the camera and declined to move.
In the next scene, the dog takes charge—leading his owner directly toward a Costa Coffee storefront, presumably in pursuit of the pup cup that so many pampered pooch’s have come to know and love.
Pup cups are dog-friendly treats often made of whipped cream, milk or soft-serve ice cream. They can usually be found in coffee shops.
The caption of the video, “stubborn or spoilt? Both I think,” has resonated with viewers on TikTok, many of whom found the dog’s sense of entitlement hilarious.
Several viewers have shared how similarly their own pets act when they catch a whiff of a pup cup, while others feigned lighthearted empathy for the dog in his pursuit of the treat.
“God forbid a dog has needs,” Deliveroo’s official TikTok account said.
“I’m the lawyer, if you don’t get the puppuccino every visit you will be taken to court,” another added.
“Neither stubborn or spoilt but deserving of a pup cup,” a third viewer shared.
“This must be a golden retriever thing because mine does the same,” another said.
“Mine is the same I know the feeling especially when he’s already had one from the restaurant and he wants another one,” another commented. “Try and get him to walk. People think I’m trying to [kidnap] him.”
“Dogs can be so stubborn,” another chimed in. “We had a monthly market in the summer and there was a natural dog treat stall that gave my dad’s dog free treats. He couldn’t understand where it had gone but he knows exactly where the stall was.”
