Nick Foles takes massive shot at Patriots after Bo Nix injury

The Denver Broncos advanced to the AFC Championship Game with a 33-30 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills during the Divisional Round.
Unfortunately, it also came with the loss of their season-long starting quarterback, Bo Nix, who reportedly broke his ankle on the second-to-last play of the game. Broncos head coach Sean Payton delivered the somber news after the win, but placed faith in backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham.
Nix is one of several star quarterbacks to suffer season-ending injuries this past season. Unfortunately, his came as his team was moving closer to the Super Bowl and the potential of adding another Lombardi Trophy to their collection.

Upon news of Nix’s injury, many fans suggested calling on former quarterback Peyton Manning or even asking Philip Rivers to suit up again.
However, former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles didn’t hesitate to take a shot at former Super Bowl foe, the New England Patriots, via a “Note for the Broncos and their fans” on his X account.
“I know it’s been an emotional 24 hours. I feel for Bo and the team, and I’m sending prayers for a strong recovery,” he wrote.
“A positive note going into the game versus the Patriots is that they struggle against backup QBs in championship-type games,” Foles said.
His message alluded to him taking over as the Eagles’ starting QB once their season-long starter, Carson Wentz, was sidelined by injury.
Foles then led the Eagles on a magical playoff run to Super Bowl LII in 2018, where he helped them win, 41-33, against Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. Foles was also named the game’s Most Valuable Player for his performance.
Broncos fans are hoping that Denver’s backup can accomplish a similar feat. He’ll have fewer games to assist his team than Foles did, with just the AFC Championship Game against the Patriots and then the Super Bowl.
Nix is scheduled to undergo ankle surgery on Tuesday in Birmingham, Alabama, but is likely to play a role in supporting the Broncos’ backups.
Stidham, who came into the league in 2019 from Auburn as a fourth-round draft pick by the Patriots, last played in 2023 in three games for the Broncos, with 40-of-66 completions for 496 yards and two touchdowns. He’ll have to shake off any jitters as Nix’s understudy to help Denver reach the Super Bowl.
