Munetaka Murakami projected to sign huge 7-year, $140M deal with AL club

The free agency sweepstakes for slugger Munetaka Murakami are bound to heat up in the coming days. The slugger could sign a huge deal with practically any team in the league, especially the top contenders.
Teams like the New York Mets and Chicago Cubs would make a lot of sense. The Boston Red Sox could fit perfectly for Murakami, too.
But Just Baseball’s Ryan Finkelstein predicted that Murakami would sign a huge seven-year, $140 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels this offseason.

“If there is one team that should take the gamble on giving Munetaka Murakami a long-term deal, it is the Los Angeles Angels,” Finkelstein wrote. “The Angels have third base at-bats to give Murakami, and they could use another star.”
The Angels have struggled for the last few years, but they’ve continued to try to buy and win games. Last offseason, the Angels added a few solid pieces, but it didn’t give them the success they wanted.
This offseason, they could benefit tremendously from adding a slugger like Murakami. He’s one of the best sluggers on the market, but he’s not likely to cost the same as Kyle Schwarber and Pete Alonso. This gives the Angels a chance to buy low on a slugger who could smash 40 home runs per season if he puts all the pieces together.
