The world-famous Louvre Museum in Paris has been closed after a robbery, the French Culture Minister has said.

Announcing the development, Rachida Dati posted on X: “A robbery took place this morning at the opening of then@MuseeLouvre. No injuries reported. I am on site alongside the museum and police teams. Investigations are underway.”

The museum posted on its X account: “The Musée du Louvre will remain closed today for exceptional reasons.”
