Lane Kiffin, LSU land first transfer portal player, a 1,000-yard WR

Lane Kiffin said he was going to go crazy this transfer portal season, and he’s starting to prove that one of the most polarizing coaches in all of North American sports is not lying.

After re-signing star tight end Trey’Dez Green on Saturday to the LSU Tigers on Saturday, he made his first official transfer portal signing on Sunday by signing one of the more exciting wideouts available on the market.

Jackson Harris, from Berkeley, California, played two years at Stanford with minimal results in the struggling program before transferring to Hawaii for the 2025 season.

With the Rainbow Warriors, Harris finally found a team where he could showcase his talents, having an incredible sophomore season that put him on the radar of Power Four schools across the nation.

He caught 49 receptions for 963 yards that resulted in a staggering 12 touchdowns for Hawaii.

Harris played in only 10 games for the Rainbow Warriors, making him even more dominant than his already incredible stats suggest. He opted out of the Hawaii Bowl against his hometown California Golden Bears to prepare for the transfer portal, knowing he was aiming for a College Football Playoff-contending program in 2026.

After visiting the Baton Rouge campus this weekend, there were no more visits needed for Harris, who is the first official recruit of the Lane Kiffin LSU Tigers era.

And Kiffin, who posted yesterday that he was “just getting started” after re-signing Green, is not nearly done, as his new quest is to sign a starting quarterback for next year following Michael Van Buren Jr.’s exit into the chaos that is the portal.

The transfer portal officially closes on Jan. 16, 2026.
