‘Karate Kid: Legends’ Director Jonathan Entwistle To Helm Adaptation Of Agatha Christie’s ‘Endless Night’ From Studiocanal And The Picture Company

EXCLUSIVE: Jonathan Entwistle is set to direct Studiocanal’s Endless Night, a modern, psychological thriller that serves as a reimagining of Agatha Christie’s classic novel of the same name. Emily Siegel adapted the script with the Picture Company partners Andrew Rona & Alex Heineman producing under their overall deal with Studiocanal.

The film follows an ambitious twentysomething hustler who end up entangled in a web of blame and deception after he gets romantically involved with a volatile American heiress and her assistant. Studiocanal’s Ron Halpern and Shana Eddy-Grouf will serve as executive producers and will oversee the project for the studio.

Studiocanal is coming off a string of critical and commercial success, including We Live in Time, Paddington in Peru and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. Next year, they will release the World War II drama Pressure, starring Andrew Scott and Brendan Fraser.

Entwistle has been a rising star on the director scene in the industry following his critically acclaimed Netflix pic The End of the Fing World as well as I Am Not Okay With This. He also had the Apple TV’s sci-fi comedy Hello Tomorrow!. The multi-faceted filmmaker is also coming off the recent box office success of Sony’s Karate Kid: Legends, which revived the storied franchise theatrically with a $116 million gross
worldwide.

Siegel is a journalist and New York Times bestselling author turned screenwriter. She adapted the novel We Were Never Here for Netflix and Berlanti. She also recently sold an original thriller to Chernin and co-wrote the upcoming feature Family Secrets for ACE. Her debut script, Story, placed on the 2020 Black List.

The Picture Company is coming off the Best Picture-nominated Bob Dylan film A Complete Unknown and
is in post on the James McAvoy-Julianne Moore starrer Control for Studiocanal. Next year, they will
enter production on David Weil’s original thriller Tyrant for Amazon MGM, starring Charlize Theron, and
are currently casting David Gordon Green’s Supermax, for Miramax. They also recently landed the Mark
Wahlberg-starring action thriller The Operator at Netflix.
