Jeffrey Soros Boards Sonja O’Hara’s Psychological Thriller ‘Snare’ As Filming Begins In L.A.

EXCLUSIVE: Jeffrey Soros has been unveiled as an executive producer on Sonja O’Hara (Doomsday) and Adam Hoelzel’s body-horror psychological thriller Snare as the film begins filming in L.A.

Soros, who is CEO of the Los Angeles Media Fund (LAMF), has a track record in backing creator-driven work with past credits including Carlos López Estrada’s Summertime, Josephine Decker’s Shirley and Chiwetel Ejiofor second feature directorial credit Rob Peace.

O’Hara stars in the movie as a brilliant and volatile mycologist who is convinced by her self-destructive but alluring ex to participate in a trial for an experimental drug designed to sever romantic attachments. She is joined in the cast by Wicked co-star Marissa Bode and Greg Tarzan Davis.

“Snare is a wonderfully original and ambitious project. I have every confidence that Sonja’s talent, dedication to craft, and exceptional work ethic will combine to beautifully realize it,” said Soros.

Emmy-nominated Canadian filmmaker and actress O’Hara connected with Soros when one of her scripts was selected for the sFilm Independent Fast Track marketplace, where he served as a mentor. Their collaboration began after Snare was chosen for the Tribeca Vital Stories Lab, with Soros providing creative guidance throughout the writing process.

“While Jeffrey is widely recognized for backing daring work from established filmmakers, he also has a rare instinct for discovery,” said O’Hara.

“This film comes from a deeply personal place, and his specific notes and guidance were instrumental in helping shape it. I feel incredibly fortunate to be collaborating with someone who brings both artistic rigor and genuine belief in new voices. He’s a true innovator.”
