Furious 4th-quarter comeback sends Texas, Mississippi State to OT tied 38-38

AUSTIN (KXAN) — No. 22 Texas came alive in the fourth quarter, scoring 24 points to battle back and force overtime with Mississippi State 38-38 on Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi.
Longhorns punt returner Ryan Niblett is proving to be one of the most explosive special teams players in the country. He helped tie the game with a 79-yard punt return touchdown with 1:47 left in regulation, his second punt return score in three weeks. Mason Shipley’s PAT knotted the score, and then the Texas defense kept the Bulldogs off the scoreboard the rest of the way.

Arch Manning threw for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, a 6-yard dart to Parker Livington at the 13:15 mark, and then a 21-yard pass for Emmett Mosley V with 9:34 left.

Texas trailed 38-21 after Davon Booth caught a shovel pass and raced 62 yards for a touchdown with 12:29 left, but then the Longhorns’ defense bowed up and forced the Bulldogs into two three-and-out drives.
