CJ Baxter ruled out, Quintrevion Wisner probable for Longhorns vs. Florida

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas running back CJ Baxter has been ruled out of Saturday’s game against Florida with a hamstring injury, but the Longhorns will get the other half of their dynamic running duo back.

Quintervion Wisner, who hasn’t played since the season opener against Ohio State, is listed as probable on the latest injury report from the Southeastern Conference. He rushed for 80 yards on 16 carries against the Buckeyes in a 14-7 loss on Aug. 30 in Columbus, Ohio.

Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian said he hoped both backs would be available for the SEC opener in Gainesville, but Christian Clark, Jerrick Gibson and Arch Manning can help spread the carries around, giving the offense the balance it needs.

Wide receiver Emmett Mosley V, a sophomore transfer from Stanford who hasn’t played this season due to a leg injury, is expected to suit up. He’s listed as probable on the injury report and could provide Manning and the Texas offense another quality target in the passing game.

Defensive backs Kobe Black and Xavier Filsaime are also probable, but Malik Muhammad was downgraded earlier in the week from probable to questionable. The injury report will be updated 90 minutes before the game’s 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.
