City of Buda announces start of $6.6M Sportsplex expansion

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Upgrades to the Buda Sportsplex will soon begin, the city of Buda announced Tuesday.

The Buda City Council approved $6.6 million in improvements to its sportsplex to “enhance” the experience for visitors and attract tourists last September. Upgrades include the addition of four softball fields, two concessions stands and 26 batting cages. The city also announced it would add more than 800 new parking spots and capacity for RV parking to the venue.

In response to resident questions on social media, the city said confirmed that a dog park formerly located on the grounds will be moved to a new, undetermined location.

The city did not provide an estimate on when the project would be completed.
