Austin City Limits is 1 week away! What to know about traffic, Zilker impacts

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin City Limits Music Festival is right around the corner, which means Zilker Park and the surrounding area will be impacted for the next couple of weeks.
If you commute in the area or plan to attend the fest, you’ll need to know how to get around. Luckily, the city of Austin has a mobility guide locked and loaded for ACL:
Traffic will be impacted from Sept. 22 to Oct. 17.
Park access, impacts, alternative use areas & alerts:
- PARK ACCESS:
- Closed: None of the park is accessible without a ticket.
- Park road closures are associated with this event. See closures.
- Due to the number of participants on site, and the nature of the activities, access to park areas, parking lots, waterway and/or docks are impacted during event hours.
- In addition, event set up activities will occur in advance such as infrastructure delivery and includes a significant amount of traffic in the park.
- ALERTS:
- Parking on the grass or on unauthorized park grounds during a special event is a $250 parking fine.
- Illegal vending or commercial activity is a Class C Misdemeanor with a minimum $200 fine.
- Glass, styrofoam and smoking are prohibited in all parks.
There will be weekend closures during the festival itself, detailed in the map below, as well as load-in and load-out closures, which can be found on the Austin Center for Events’ mobility guide.
The festival runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Oct. 3-5, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10-12. Gates open each day at noon and the fest closes each night at 10 p.m.
If you’re going to the festival, ACL has a “know before you go” guide on its website, with information on where the entry gates are, what can be brought into festival grounds, how to activate wristbands, etc.
