EXCLUSIVE: Arthur McBain (Interview with the Vampire) is the newest addition to the cast of Bloodaxe, Prime Video‘s Viking drama series starring Xavier Molyneux and Jessica Madsen.
He plays the role of Sigrod, one of the many brothers of Molyneux’s Erik Bloodaxe. As previously announced, the cast also includes Levi Miller, Karlis Arnolds Avots, Rod Hallett, Alina Tomnikov, Sisse Marie, Rune Temte, Jesper Christensen, Marc Rissmann, and Kai Luke Brümmer.
Created, written, and executive produced by Vikings creator Michael Hirst and his son, Horatio Hirst, Bloodaxe follows Erik Bloodaxe (Molyneux), one of history’s most famous Norse raiders, and his formidable wife, Gunnhild (Madsen), as they fight for the throne of Norway. In the process, the land is torn apart by fierce rivals, shifting loyalties, and bloody betrayals. With war looming and chaos consuming the kingdom —drawing in the ruthless kings of other Scandinavian countries and even a powerful English ruler — the stage is set for a thundering, cataclysmic, compelling, and utterly magical new Norse saga.
The show is produced by MGM Television, a division of Amazon MGM Studios. Michael and Horatio Hirst wrote the show and are showrunning, as well as executive producing alongside Morgan O’Sullivan under his O’Sullivan Productions label, Steve Stark under his Toluca Pictures label, Arturo Interian, John Weber, Sheila Hockin, and Fred Toye.
Soon to be seen starring opposite David Dawson in the dystopian film The Flaw, McBain’s other credits include Season 2 of AMC’s Interview with the Vampire, ITV’s After the Flood, the Film4/BFI feature Surviving Earth, the ABC Australia series Friday on My Mind, and ITV’s The Trouble with Maggie Cole opposite Dawn French. He is repped by The Artist Partnership and Untitled.
