APD identifies victim in east Austin vehicle, motorcycle crash

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department identified the victim who died in a crash earlier this week that happened near Lady Bird Lake.

The victim was identified as 34-year-old Cavione Marice Ranson, the agency said in a news release Thursday.

The crash happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Pleasant Valley Road in east Austin. Officers responded to the crash between a vehicle and a motorcycle. Police identified Ranson as the the motorcyclist. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

Police said the driver and passenger in the vehicle were not injured and cooperated with investigators.

This is now being investigated as Austin’s 24th fatal crash of 2025, according to police.

No other details were released Thursday.
