Amazon recall update: Risk of death warning for product pulled nationwide

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a nationwide recall of thousands of baby loungers sold on Amazon after finding the products pose suffocation and fall hazards.

The recall covers about 23,000 URMYWO baby loungers in the “grey feather” style sold on Amazon between January 2024 and April 2025 for about $30 to $50 with the model number UMCZC01AE.

The recalled loungers were found to have sides shorter than the mandatory minimum side height, a sleeping pad thicker than permitted, an enclosed opening at the foot that could entrap an infant. The loungers’ portability also created a fall hazard without a stand. There have been no reported incidents or injuries tied to this product, according to the CPSC notice.

The CPSC has issued strict guidance for companies that manufacture or sell infant sleep products, a category that includes baby loungers. The rules require that any product marketed for infant sleep—unless already covered by existing crib, bassinet, play yard, or bedside sleeper standards—meet specific federal safety benchmarks. Chief among these is the requirement that the product’s sleep surface not exceed a 10-degree incline, a measure designed to reduce suffocation and rollover risks. Products must also comply with the same design and stability requirements applied to bassinets and cradles.

In addition to design standards, manufacturers are required to provide detailed labeling and tracking information, including the company’s name, U.S. contact details, model number, and the date of manufacture. Each company must also certify compliance through a Children’s Product Certificate, citing the infant sleep product regulation directly.
