Wedding coordinator slammed for crashing bride’s moment: ‘Ruined the moment’
Everyone knows the golden rule of weddings: never upstage the bride. Especially if she’s the one paying your invoice.
One bride’s big moment has gone viral on TikTok after her wedding co-ordinator’s unexpected act.
The bride shared footage of herself walking down a grand staircase arm-in-arm with her father.
The moment had all the makings of a movie scene. Soft lighting, emotional music, guests craning their necks to catch the first glimpse of her dress. But within seconds, the focus shifted.
As the bride began her descent, her wedding coordinator could be seen dramatically zipping past the pair, sliding down the stone banister beside them in full view of stunned guests.
The text on the clip reads, “When the wedding co-ordinator takes their job very seriously.”
The bride wrote in the caption: “She did [a] good job, but this made me CACKLE.”
Since being posted, the video has been viewed more than 11 million times and sparked an online debate about where professionalism ends and chaos begins.
While the bride seemed to take the incident in good humor, the internet absolutely did not.
Her comments section was a chaotic mix of jokes and savage criticism.
“She ruined the moment.”
“It’s giving ‘I feel like you’re just here for the Zipline.’”
“If I was the bride I would be really upset that I wasn’t offered the slide option.”
“OMG. What a freaking disaster! Just WHAT was she THINKING!”
One commenter even suggested the planner has taken a mid-wedding slippery dip before, writing: “Stopppp she did this at my wedding too and I was so surprised lol.”
Others admitted they only discovered the video after it was parodied by creator Maddison Humphrey, who’s known for parodying over-the-top TikToks.
In a follow-up clip, the bride insisted that the moment didn’t bother her in the slightest.
“No distractions over here – just an insane entrance ft lots of tears and a 10/10 dress fluffing,” she wrote.
But despite her best attempts to shrug it off, many viewers weren’t convinced.
“The guests literally saw her slide down the stairs. I think that’s pretty distracting.”
“I probably would have laughed if I was guest. That was totally distracting.”
“So she slid down the side of the aisle as the bride is doing the main entrance and then got in the way of the videographer as he filmed to fluff her dress unnecessarily?”
Even seasoned professionals were left gobsmacked.
Isabella Watkins, from The Eventful Touch, said she couldn’t believe the coordinator’s behavior.
The Sydney-based wedding co-ordinator said that while her job often involves moving quickly and staying alert, there are unspoken boundaries you simply don’t cross.
“It was totally out of line. I think it’s very unprofessional,” Watkins told news.com.au.
“A moment like that, where she’s getting the raw reaction of her partner seeing her walk down the aisle, I think that could have been a moment that was really lost.”
Watkins said that while the couple’s big moment is always her top priority, so too is the guest experience.
“Guests have seen this. It is a little bit funny, so guests may have laughed, taking away from that big moment.”
She added that weddings are deeply personal events. They’re months, sometimes years in the making. They then become moments that couples reflect on for decades.
“This wedding will now be known for the planner who slid down during a bride’s entry,” she said.
“Now going viral on social media, that’s all her wedding is going to be known for, unfortunately.”
