AUSTIN (KXAN) — New York City may get the title of the “city that never sleeps” but there’s no resting for Central Texans this weekend with the various events happening across the area.

Below is a list of some of the festivals, markets and happenings occurring across Central Texas this weekend, April 26 and 27.

Georgetown Poppy Festival

Enjoy the ‘small town feel’ in one of the fastest-growing cities in the country during this weekend’s Georgetown Poppy Festival, running Friday through Sunday. The festival features a Saturday parade, car show, artisan market, pet parade, BMX stunt show and live music. All events and concerts are free. A free parking shuttle is also available.

Dripping Springs’ Founders Day Festival

The “Gateway to the Texas Hill Country” is celebrating 36 years with a 3-day event, Friday through Sunday. The Founders Day Festival includes live concerts, a carnival, barbecue cookoff competition, plus arts & crafts. The Rotary Club will provide a shuttle on Saturday to and from the festival for those who park for free at Dripping Springs High School.

Buda’s Weiner Dog Races

The 28th annual Buda Weiner Dog Races feature purebred and mixed-breed races of some of our favorite four-legged friends. The races begin Saturday morning at Buda City Park, located at 204 San Antonio Street. There’s still time to register your Dachshund. You can do it online now or register onsite. The event also features food vendors, live music and a family fun zone. (Dog costumes are also welcome.)

Eeyore’s birthday

The traditional spring celebration at Pease Park happens Saturday from 11 a.m. until dusk. From costume competitions to face painting and a chance to meet Eeyore, the event not only has things to do for the entire family, but money is also raised for nonprofits in the community.

University of Texas Athletics “Fan Day”

University of Texas Athletics is hosting a “Texas Football Fan Day” at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday in lieu of the traditional spring game.

There will be a team shop sale, street fest, on-field experience and player autograph opportunities. The event begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. Admission is free.

Old Settlers Music Festival

The 38th annual Old Settlers Music Festival kicked off Thursday and runs through Sunday. Ranked in the top five of USA Today’s list of North America’s 10 best festivals, the long-time tradition features live music, kids’ activities, workshops, vendors and food. The festival takes place in Dale, just 45 minutes southeast of Austin. Tickets are needed and campsites are available.

Field Guide Festival

Benefitting the Central Texas Food Bank, the Field Guide Festival in Austin aims to connect Texans to their local food system. Festivalgoers have the opportunity to meet local farmers, try food samples from top Austin chefs, learn about current food trends, and more. Tickets are available for purchase. The event runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Fiesta Gardens, alongside Lady Bird Lake and the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail.

Smithville Jamboree

What started over 50 years ago is now a celebration not to be missed in Smithville. This weekend, the town comes together for Smithville Jamboree, a once-a-year event featuring a livestock show & sale, beard contest, pet show, carnival and parade. The schedule also features washer and horseshoe tournaments. Tickets are available to purchase.
