Newsmax Makeup Artist Who Worked For Greta Van Susteren Shot & Killed By Son, According To Authorities
Makeup artist Travis Renee Baldwin, 57, who worked under the name Renee Baldwin at Newsmax, was tragically shot and killed by her son in Arlington, VA, over the weekend, according to local authorities. There was no clear motive.
As recently as Friday, Baldwin was busy doing Greta Van Susteren‘s makeup for The Record. The Newsmax host took to X to express her sadness at the news and note that Baldwin, who apparently also did Van Susteren’s makeup at ABC and ESPN, was “a friend to all of her colleagues.”
Van Susteren continued, “She did my make up Friday for the show and of course I never dreamed that would be the last time I would see her…”
Newsmax White House producer Marisela Rameriz recalled, “Renee had a giving heart and a gypsy spirit but really she was a quiet warrior, supporting her family and carrying the weight of a household on her shoulders—without complaints…Her spirit and joyous laugh will be deeply missed.”
Deadline reached out to Newsmax for comment and this story will be updated if one is received.
After receiving a report of a shooting, Arlington County Police rushed to an apartment in the Virginia Square neighborhood on the morning of the 17th.
“Upon arrival, officers located an adult female inside a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” police said, according to reports. “Officers administered lifesaving measures before medics transported her to a local hospital. She later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.”
Her son, Logan Chrisinger, 27, was at the residence and taken into custody. Police later classified the incident as a “domestic-related homicide.”
Chrisinger was charged with first-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was being held without bail.
Baldwin’s career also included stints at ABC and ESPN, where she worked on the sports network’s mainstay Pardon the Interruption. Photos posted to her social media show Baldwin kissing The Stanley Cup on set and also applying a beard to host Michael Wilbon’s face so he could play Kyrie Irving for an on-air gag.
