The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the city to issue the notice due to reduced system pressure.

Residents are advised to boil all water before use, including for drinking, brushing teeth, washing hands and face, and any other consumption.

The notice warns that children, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems are “particularly vulnerable” to harmful bacteria.

“To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use,” the notice states. “The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.”

City officials said residents will be notified when the water is safe to use again.
