The next Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion brings Ultra Beasts next week

The Pokémon Company has announced the next expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket, and it’s set to launch next week in the app.

The new expansion is called Extradimensional Crisis, and it’s a themed booster pack, meaning it’s limited to a single booster pack – rather than two like full expansions – and is likely to add around 100-150 cards to the game. Extradimensional Crisis will add Ultra Beast Pokémon cards to Pokémon TCG Pocket, strange creatures from another dimension that have a special designation in the TCG.

A number of Ultra Beast cards were revealed in a press release accompanying the announcement, including some Pokémon ex cards, regular cards designated as an Ultra Beast card, and even full art variants of the Pokémon. Other related cards, like Type: Null and Pokémon ex versions of Guardian Pokémon like Tapu Koko, were also revealed to be coming to the game.

More Trainer cards are coming in the new set, too, with a Lusamine card revealed in the expansion’s trailer. It’s likely that these cards will interact and engage with Ultra Beast cards, allowing greater flexibility than Trainer cards that require specific types or even specific Pokémon to be effective. The Lusamine card, for example, allows you to take two random energy from your discard pile and add it to an Ultra Beast card on your field.

The expansion comes after the introduction of Alolan Pokémon in the last full TCG Pocket set, which was titled Celestial Guardians and focused on Pokémon and trainers introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon. Ultra Beasts were also introduced in those games, so it seems as if Extradimensional Crisis acts as further expansion of the Celestial Guardians set.

The Extradimensional Crisis expansion will be released in Pokémon TCG Pocket on May 29, 2025. A number of events themed around the expansion will also be added to the game following its introduction, including solo battle events, Wonder Pick events, and Mass Outbreak events:

• Ultra Beast Drop Event (June 3 at 11 p.m. PDT to June 13 at 10:59 p.m. PDT): Take on special solo battles to obtain new promo cards, including Ultra Necrozma ex.
• Wonder Pick Event (June 11 at 11 p.m. PDT to June 21 at 10:59 p.m. PDT): Obtain new promo cards such as Poipole and Stufful and obtain event shop tickets by completing missions.
• Ultra Beast Mass Outbreak Event (June 22 at 11 p.m. PDT to June 28 at 10:59 p.m. PDT): Cards relating to Ultra Beasts will appear in rare picks and bonus picks.
