AUSTIN (KXAN) — On Monday, Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows and Texas House Representatives honored Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel at the Texas Capitol as part of “DJ Daniel Day.”
DJ is a 13-year-old Texan battling brain cancer and had a dream of one day becoming a police officer.
He has now been sworn in by over 900 law enforcement agencies across Texas and the nation, according to the press release.
The Texas House recognized DJ during his swearing in as part of “DJ Daniel Day.” He was also introduced to Texas lawmakers and was able to interact with police horses and motorcycles at the Texas Capitol.
This isn’t the first time DJ has been honored by lawmakers. In March, President Donald Trump honored DJ at a joint session of Congress. He was also sworn in to the United States Secret Service.
“We’re going to do you the biggest honor of them all. I am asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States Secret Service. Thank you, DJ” Trump said.
