Who is Katie Hoofnagle?
Katie Hoofnagle graduated from the University of South Carolina and is originally from California. After college, she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she worked as a mortgage loan officer, according to USA Today.
She now works full-time remotely as a marketing specialist for Renvio and lives in Seattle with Sam Darnold, who is in the first year of a three-year deal with the Seahawks.
How did Sam Darnold and Katie Hoofnagle meet?
While the exact details of when Darnold and Hoofnagle first met are unclear, it’s widely believed they connected during his time with the Carolina Panthers, where he spent two seasons. They went public with their relationship in 2023 and announced their engagement on July 7, 2025, after Darnold proposed in Dana Point, California.
In a 2025 interview with US Weekly, Darnold noted that Hoofnagle, a former club soccer player at South Carolina, understands the challenges of his NFL career both on and off the field.
“She’s a former athlete herself, and just gets kind of the grind of everything,” he said. “When I just want to chill, she’s very up for that, especially during the season.”
Now, Hoofnagle will get to root for her soon-to-be husband in the biggest game of his professional career on Sunday, as the Seahawks aim for their first Lombardi Trophy since 2014.
