New James Bond: Jacob Elordi rumors shake up contenders for our next 007

Jacob Elordi has become the latest actor rumored to be considered for one of Hollywood’s most coveted roles, James Bond. 

The 28-year-old star, best known for his roles in Euphoria, Frankenstein, and the upcoming Wuthering Heights, is now widely rumored to be a leading contender as the iconic spy franchise prepares for its next release. 

Interest in Elordi’s potential cast comes at a strong moment in his career. He recently won Best Supporting Actor at the Critics Choice Awards for his performance as the Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, further cementing his reputation as one of the most acclaimed actors in the industry. 

If confirmed, Elordi would not only be the second Australian actor to ever play the role, he would be the youngest 007, and at 6ft 5, he also would be the tallest actor to play the famous spy. 

The next James Bond movie is expected to mark a clear reset for the franchise. Acclaimed director Denis Villeneuve, known for his visually striking, atmospheric, and intellectually driven thrillers, has been confirmed as the director, suggesting a darker, more cinematic turn.  

While production dates have not yet been confirmed, the project is still in development as the studio decides on its next lead. The movie is expected to be released in 2027, so a casting decision might be out later this year. 

Elordi is not the only actor linked to the role—several other actors have been rumored to be considered for the role.  

Callum Turner has been widely reported as another strong contender and has reportedly told friends about his casting. There are even rumors that his popstar fiancée, Dua Lipa, might be responsible for the song for the franchise’s next movie. 

Meanwhile Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, Jack Lowden, James Norton and Henry Cavill have also been mentioned in the mix, however, no official decision has been announced as of yet. 

At the premiere of Wuthering Heights on January 28, his co-star Margot Robbie, 35, was thrilled to hear about his potential casting, and while she did not confirm anything, she did show her approval by praising his skills and versatility. 

James Bond has previously been played by Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and most recently Daniel Craig.  

Producers are now believed to be looking for a younger bond, to introduce the franchise to a new generation of audiences.
