Jane Says It’s All Good: Jane’s Addiction Members Make Peace & Part Ways

It’s a Christmas miracle!

After a year-plus of recriminations, lawsuits and physical altercations, the original members of Jane’s Addiction have not quite kissed, but they have made up.

In a statement posted to the band’s official Instagram page, Eric Avery, Stephen Perkins and Dave Navarro announced “we have come together one last time to resolve our differences, so that the legacy of Jane’s Addiction will remain the work the four of us have created together.”

Especially important is the phrase “one last time,” which indicates finality.

The contrite, lawyerly statement also contained some mea culpas from the trio.

Seeking to “clarify” the events of a show in Boston in September 2024 in which vocalist Perry Farrell shoved and threw a punch at guitarist Dave Navarro before the show abruptly ended, Avery, Perkins and Navarro admitted they “made inaccurate statements about Perry’s mental health which we regret.”

That last bit is likely a reference to a statement issued by the trio in the days after the Boston show.

“Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour,” read the statement signed by Navarro, Avery and Stephen Perkins. “Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs.”

At the time, Farrell apologized.

In a statement Ferrell said, “This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show. Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”

The singer’s wife, Etty, then announced he was seeking medical treatment and “time to heal,” specifically with an “otolaryngologist and a neurologist.”

In July of this year, the other band members have filed a $10M lawsuit against Farrell. Today, they seemingly put that — and their future together as a band — behind them, which the statement makes clear.

“We now look forward to the future as we embark on our separate musical and creative endeavors,” it reads. “Jane’s Addiction will forever live in our hearts. We are proud of the music we created together.”
