Oregon, Dan Lanning emerging as top transfer destination for star QB

The Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning are preparing for their College Football Playoff matchup on Saturday against James Madison, but there are some intriguing rumors surrounding the program.

Following the conclusion of the 2025 college football season, Oregon could end up losing quarterback Dante Moore to the 2026 NFL Draft. He could opt to return for another season with the Ducks, but there are many who project him to be a high first-round pick in the draft.

Should that happen, Oregon would need to replace him. There are some intriguing options becoming available in the transfer portal.

Keeping that in mind, the Ducks are already emerging as a top potential transfer destination for one star quarterback.

According to a report from Chris Hummer of CBS Sports, Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola and Oregon are a pairing worth watching. Raiola officially decided to enter the transfer portal on Monday afternoon.

“Sources have mentioned Oregon as an early school of interest for Dylan Raiola and his camp,” Hummer wrote on X. “Obviously, Dante Moore could return to Eugene. But the Ducks are a school to have on the radar in Raiola’s process.”

If Moore does choose return for another season at Oregon, Raiola would likely be off the board. Moore finished the 2025 season completing 72.5 percent of his pass attempts for 2,733 yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while also rushing for 191 yards and another score.

Raiola has gone viral for appearing similar to Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He has played solid football in his first two years with the Cornhuskers, but has failed to live up to to the hype that has surrounded him.

During the 2025 season at Nebraska, Raiola threw for 2,000 yards, 18 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while completing 72.4 percent of his passes. He produced those numbers in nine games before going down with a season-ending broken fibula.

Plenty of other programs will have interest in trying to convince Raiola to join them. However, the Ducks appear to be a team that his camp has heavy interest in. Playing for Lanning would be a major draw from a talented young quarterback.

Expect to hear more news about Raiola in the near future. For now, keep an eye on Oregon as a potential suitor for him in the portal.
