Claire Foy Joins Danny Boyle’s Next Film ‘Ink’ From Studiocanal

EXCLUSIVE: Emmy-winner Claire Foy is set to join Jack O’Connell and Guy Pearce in Ink, a Studiocanal, Media Res and House Productions pic that revolves around the rise of the Rupert Murdoch empire. Danny Boyle is directing. Studiocanal is launching worldwide sales at AFM and will co-represent domestic sales with WME.

The film is based on is based on the Tony nominated play by multi-Olivier award-winning playwright and screenwriter James Graham, Graham has written the screenplay with production now underway. The film is an explosive cinematic rollercoaster about a group of visionaries and misfits who had an idea for a new kind of news — one that would give the people what they want and would change the face of the world we live in today. James Graham, who penned the original play, has adapted the screenplay with plans to shoot this October.

Pearce will play Murdoch, O’Connell will play Larry Lamb, who Murdoch hired to run The Sun when he purchased it in 1969 and Foy will play an ambitious editor who joins the Sun and works closely with Lamb.

Boyle produces with Tessa Ross andMichael Ellenberg. The film reunites Boyle and Ross following their collaboration on Slumdog Millionaire. Tracey Seaward also produces. Tonia Davis is an EP.
 
Media Res optioned James Graham’s play of the same name directed by Rupert Goold. Studiocanal is fully financing the film. Ron Halpern and Joe Naftalin will oversee for the company. Studiocanal will release theatrically in their territories of the UK, France, Germany, Poland. Benelux, Australia and NZ. 
 
Alwin H. Kuchler is director of photography, Gareth Pugh & Carson McColl. are on as production & costume Designers, Finn Oates as Editor, Gail Stevens & Rebecca Farhall are casting the film.

Foy is coming off rave reviews following the premiere of her Plan B production H is for Hawk at the recent Telluride Film Festival. The film was picked up by Roadside Attractions for distribution and recently had screened at the London Film Festival and AFI.

She is repped by UTA and Independent Talent Group.
