This follows his advertised appearance for WWC in Puerto Rico over the weekend, where he ultimately did not wrestle.

PWInsider also notes a belief circulating in some lucha libre circles regarding WWE’s potential strategy. According to this speculation, WWE might be attempting to use the leverage of a potential one-year non-compete clause as a way to persuade Andrade to return to the company. While PWInsiderElite.com could not get confirmation from anyone within WWE, this narrative is reportedly making the rounds in Mexico.

This entire situation stems from Andrade’s release from WWE and his subsequent surprise return to AEW on October 1. Initially, it was widely believed, potentially even by Andrade himself, that he was free from any contractual obligations and could sign and perform immediately. This understanding led to his AEW appearance, where he aligned with the Don Callis Family, and a subsequent match in Mexico shortly after.

However, the situation took a turn when WWE reportedly informed Andrade that he was still under a non-compete period. This clause is speculated by some reports to be part of newer TKO contracts, potentially lasting up to one year, particularly for talent released “for cause.” AEW has seemingly stopped acknowledging Andrade’s return on television since these reports surfaced.

The enforcement of this non-compete has impacted more than just AEW. Andrade was officially pulled from a scheduled match against LA Park for Mucha Lucha Atlanta, which was set for October 25. His absence from the WWC event further confirms the ongoing contractual complications. As of now, Andrade El Idolo has not publicly commented on these developments.
