Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Names New Pediatric Lead

Jordan S. Orange has rejoined Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in a new role as pediatrician-in-chief and chair of the department of pediatrics at CHOP and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

Orange completed his pediatric residency at CHOP and previously held a chair of immunology research role at the historic children’s hospital. He most recently was at Columbia University as chair of the pediatrics department and physician-in-chief at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital.

Why It Matters

Founded in 1855, CHOP is the country’s first pediatric hospital. The CHOP Care Network includes more than 50 locations across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Orange is an immunology expert with strong research credentials. Before Columbia, Orange held leadership roles at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital. He is an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the American Pediatric Society and the National Academy of Medicine.

What To Know

Orange received both his MD and PhD at Brown University and completed an Allergy/Immunology/Rheumatology fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital following his CHOP residency. He was a 2024 MERIT awardee of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
