Woman gets daughter a kitten, what she checks first leaves viewers in tears

A little girl’s dream come true has melted hearts across the internet.

In a viral TikTok video posted by her mother, the girl is shown meeting her new kitten for the very first time—straightaway, she puts her hand on it to make sure it has a beating heart. Since the clip was posted, it has received over 241,000 views. The mother, Laura, 30, told Newsweek about how it felt to see her daughter so happy, and her sweet nature to check if it was “real” or not.

“When my baby girl got her very own kitten,” Laura captioned the footage. “It’s the hand on her to check she’s real.”

The video shows 9-year-old Luna placing her hand on the kitten before bursting into tears at the realization that it is alive, and hers.

The Best of Friends

For Luna, an animal-obsessed little girl, the kitten was a long time coming.

“My daughter has always been animal-obsessed and wanted a kitten of her own,” Laura shared. “After years of begging and wishing for one, I decided to make that wish come true.”

Laura said she was prepared for the emotional reaction from her daughter. To her, she added, it wasn’t a surprise at all.

“She is a very grateful little girl, and I knew how long she had wanted this,” Laura said.

Now, a few years later, the bond between Luna and the kitty Bella is stronger than ever. Bella is now 3 years old, and a “very chilled kitty,” according to Laura. She reported that her daughter and the kitten have been inseparable since meeting.

“Bella sleeps with Luna every night and has to be in whatever room she is in,” Laura said. “They really are the best of friends.“

A Lifetime of Memories

The pure love captured in the video struck a chord with viewers, many of whom recalled getting their own childhood pets.
