Eagles’ Jordan Mailata Sounds Off On Criticism From ESPN Host

Jordan Mailata and the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles moved to 2-0 last Sunday after a 20-17 road victory against the Kansas City Chiefs.
However, all of the talk after the game was about the tush-push and whether or not it should be legal. During the game, the Eagles ran it numerous times, and there were a few times that it appeared there were members of the Eagles offensive line moving forward.

During an episode of ‘Get Up’ on ESPN, NFL insider Adam Schefter made a comment that implied the Eagles won the game because the tush-push vote didn’t pass last March.
Mailata heard the comment, and had a scathing response for Schefter.
“I could give a [expletive] about what Adam Schefter says, to be honest,” Mailata told reporters. “And I ain’t the one calling the plays on my team. Sorry, pardon my language. Pardon my French. I’m not calling the plays, and I don’t care what Adam Schefter says. Sorry, mate.”
Now, the tush-push wasn’t why the Eagles won the game, it was because of a strong defensive performance and just enough plays from the offense.
The tush-push has been a talking point for some time, but on Sunday it became even more of a point of emphasis. The Super Bowl rematch between the Eagles and the Chiefs was the only game in the 4:25 p.m. ET time slot, and figures to be one of the most watched regular season games in quite some time.
With so many eyes on the game, it definitely got the attention of fans all across the NFL.
Last March, the owners actually voted on whether or not the play should be banned. For the play to be banned, it was required that 24 teams vote to ban it, but only 22 teams made to vote.
The NFL took notice, and according to Mark Maske of The Washington Post, the league sent out a memo to teams saying the Eagles should have been called for false starts. They also said that officials have been instructed to ‘call these plays’ tight.

The Eagles host the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3 in a game of two undefeated teams. The Rams have won 9 of their last 11 games where they played all their starters dating back to last year, and both losses are to the Eagles. The Rams were the closest team to beat them last year in the playoffs, as they lost 28-22.
All eyes are going to be on that game once again this week, and it will be very interesting to see if the officials will call that play different.
