‘Cape Fear’ Apple Series Adds Ron Perlman, Ted Levine & Margarita Levieva To Cast

EXCLUSIVE: Ron Perlman (Hellboy films, Sons of Anarchy), Ted Levine (Monk, Big Sky) and Margarita Levieva (Daredevil: Born Again, The Deuce) are set for major recurring roles on Apple TV+‘s Cape Fear drama series based on the novel The Executioners, which inspired Gregory Peck’s 1962 film, and the 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment.
Levieva is joining the project, executive produced by Scorsese and Spielberg, in a recasting. She is replacing previously cast Clara Wong. The series, whose cast is led by Javier Bardem, Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson, is currently in production.
The Cape Fear series adaptation — created, written, and showrun by Nick Antosca — is billed as a tense, Hitchcockian thriller and an examination of America’s obsession with true crime in the 21st century. In it, a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden (Wilson) when Max Cady (Bardem), a notorious killer from their past, gets out of prison. The 10-episode series
The series’ main cast also includes CCH Pounder, Anna Baryshnikov, Jamie Hector, Lily Collias, Joe Anders and Malia Pyles.
Cape Fear comes from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television. EPs include Scorsese, Antosca and Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat; Spielberg, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey for Amblin Television, Bardem, Adams, and Morten Tyldum, who directs the pilot. The series is developed and produced through Antosca’s overall deal at UCP, where he’s been based since 2017.
Perlman recently wrapped production on The Saviors with Adam Scott and Greg Kinnear. He can currently be seen starring in BBC spy thriller The Capture and recently starred opposite Donald Glover in Amazon’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith and with Natasha Lyonne in Peacock’s Poker Face. On the feature side, he can be seen starring in The Instigators and Absolution, among others. Perlman is repped by Gersh and Link Entertainment.
Levieva can most recently be seen starring in HBO’s Task opposite Mark Ruffalo and Tom Pelphrey, and next will reprise her role on Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. Her recent credits include The Acolyte at Disney+, Netflix’s In From the Cold and David Simon’s The Deuce at HBO. She is repped by Paradigm Talent Agency, Strand Entertainment, Sloane Offer Weber & Dern, and Subtitle Talent Agency.
Levine will next be seen in Matt and Ross Duffer’s Netflix series Something Very Bad is Going to Happen. He currently portrays Julien Mayfair in Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches on AMC Networks. He recently starred in the Peacock original movie, Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie and will be next be seen in the feature ilm Lear Rex, an adaptation of Shakespeare’s King Lear, from writer/director Bernard Rose. He’ll also be seen in the soon-to-be-released fantasy feature Starbright. Levine is repped by Kass Management.
