Where Mets stand on Francisco Alvarez’s ability to play through the pain

Mets people believe Francisco Alvarez has at least a 50 percent chance of being able to play through the pain of his right thumb injury.

One plus: It’s not his receiving hand.

Dustin Pedroia managed to play through a similar torn UCL thumb injury in 2013, and wound up leading the league with 724 PA, making his fourth All-Star team and helping Boston win the World Series.

Postscript: Pedroia told The Post’s Mark Sanchez, “It’s doable … [but] it’s going to suck.”
