‘Super Troopers 3’: Broken Lizard Arresting Again As Production Tees Up; Nat Faxon, Chace Crawford & Andrew Dismukes Join

The Vermont State Troopers are back for a third go-round in Searchlight Pictures’ Super Troopers 3 with the Broken Lizard gang going before the cameras at the end of this week.

The troupe’s member Jay Chandrasekhar is back to direct, and he’ll be reprising his role as Thorny on screen along with buds Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske who are back in their respective roles of Farva, Mac, Foster and Rabbit. Also back are Brian Cox as Captain John O’Hagan and Marisa Coughlan Ursula Hanson.

Also joining the cast are Oscar winner Nat Faxon (The Way Way Back) as Captain Todd Markowski, Chace Crawford (The Boys) as Baker Buchanan and Andrew Dismukes (“Saturday Night Live”) as Coy Burns.

“Broken Lizard has been part of the Searchlight family for over two decades, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for another entry in the Super Troopers saga,” said Searchlight President Matthew Greenfield. “Super Troopers has a way of making the absurd feel inevitable, and we can’t wait to bring audiences along on another adventure with these characters who leave a trail of joy and laughter, wherever their patrols may take them.”

Added Chandrasekhar, “Broken Lizard is excited to help bring the theatrical comedy back. To America, we say, ‘It’s mustache-growing time!’”

Super Troopers was released by then Fox Searchlight in 2001 after being acquired at Sundance Film Festival. Following its debut, the film then went on to win the Audience Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival. A sequel was later released in 2018. Both were directed by Chandrasekhar and written by and starring the entire Broken Lizard group. Combined the movies have grossed $55M at the global box office off a combined thrifty production cost that’s under $15M (before P&A).

Chandrasekhar, Heffernan, Lemme, Soter and Stolhanske’s Broken Lizard troupe has teamed with Searchlight on not just the Super Troopers franchise, but Club Dread and Quasi. Other film credits include Beerfest and The Slammin’ Salmon. Heffernan and Lemme are also the creators and stars of TruTV’s hit comedy Tacoma FD.

Creative Executive Apolline Berty, VP of Production Richard Ruiz, and Creative Executive Daniel Yu are overseeing the project for Searchlight Pictures, reporting to Co-Heads of Film Production & Development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.

Faxon wrote such Searchlight Pictures movies as The Way Way Back and The Descendants, for which he won an Academy Award for adapted screenplay. Crawford’s credits include The Boys and Gossip Girl as well as movies What to Expect When You’re Expecting and The Covenant. Dismukes has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for his work on Saturday Night Live.

Chandrasekhar and Heffernan are represented by UTA, Lemme by the Gotham Group, Soter by Paradigm, and Stolhanske by Sandstone Artists. Cox is represented by Conway van Gelder Grant, Paradigm Talent Agency and Insight Entertainment; and Coughlan by SBD Partners and CAA/Underground. Crawford is represented by CAA and Untitled Entertainment; Dismukes by WME and Cara Masline.
