Olivia Culpo To Host Netflix’s ‘Next Gen Chef’ As Streamer Sets Judges & Premiere Date For LeBron James-EPed Series
EXCLUSIVE: Netflix is dishing up its latest food format and has set influencer Olivia Culpo as host.
The streamer is launching Next Gen Chef, which sees 21 of America’s hottest young chefs under the age of 30 compete at prestigious culinary school The Culinary Institute of America, on September 17.
Carlton McCoy and Kelsey Barnard Clark will serve as judges. McCoy is a master sommelier who previously hosted CNN travel series Nomad with Carlton McCoy, while Barnard Clark won Season 16 of Top Chef.
Culpo has previously competed on Hell’s Kitchen and the former Miss Universe, who is married to San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, previously starred in TLC reality series The Culpo Sisters.
The eight-part series is produced by Project Runway producer Alfred Street Industries, Ultra Boom Media, which was founded by a group that includes Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown producer and director Erik Osterholm, and Fulwell Entertainment.
LeBron James is among the exec producers through Fulwell, alongside Maverick Carter, Jamal Henderson and Philip Byron. Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz, Nan Strait, Dan Volpe, Pip Wells and Tina Nicotera Bachmann exec produce for Alfred Street Industries, Osterholm, Michael Simkin, and Carrie Kaylor exec produce for Ultra Boom Media and the Culinary Institute of America’s Dr. Tim Ryan also serves as an EP.
Guest judges include food writer Francis Lam, Milk Bar CEO Christina Tosi and chefs Cat Cora, Paul Carmichael, Susan Feniger, Dale Talde, Kwame Onwuachi, Daniel Boulud, Thomas Keller, Grant Achatz, Harold Dieterle and Emma Bengtsson as well as Dr. Ryan.
